EV charging for tourist and visitor attractions

EV charging for tourist and visitor attractions

A day out is the longest charging window of all. Visitors to theme parks, zoos, stately homes and farm parks leave their car for hours, and a charger in your car park means they drive home with a full battery.

Visitors charge their EV during a day out

Why it fits a tourist or visitor attraction

Most visits to an attraction last three hours or more. A 7kW charger adds around 30 miles of range an hour, so a family who plugs in on arrival leaves with 90 miles or more added. Where visits are shorter, or you have a three-phase supply, a 22kW unit adds around 90 miles an hour.

Many attractions are out of town or in the countryside, where public chargers are thin on the ground. Electric car drivers plan days out around where they can charge. An attraction that lets them arrive, plug in and forget about it removes the biggest worry about the journey, and becomes the easy choice over one that doesn't.

Once your charger is live we add your site to the apps drivers use to find somewhere to plug in, including Zapmap, Google Maps and Apple Maps. Visitors planning a trip can see that you have charging before they set off.

Heritage sites and rural locations

Stately homes, castles and gardens often sit in listed grounds or conservation areas, and rural sites can be a long way from the electricity supply. Neither rules you out. We check permissions as part of the free site assessment, and choose charger positions and cable routes that respect the setting. Read Is my site suitable? for what we look at.
