How will offering EV charging help my business?
There are lots of electric cars on the road now and that number keeps rising. Those drivers need somewhere to plug in and charge up.
Electric car drivers soon learn where the good charging sites are and get into the habit of going back to them.
If your business can sell to those drivers while they are plugged in (typically 40 minutes to 2 hours), that should mean more sales for you.
I don’t like electric cars. They’re rubbish.
Electric car drivers do like electric cars, and they need somewhere to plug in. So why not your place?
While they wait for their car to charge, they can spend time and money in your business.
Are there many electric cars on the road?
Oh yes. Very, very many. Some recent figures:
- There are now more than 2.1 million fully electric cars on UK roads, and over 3.3 million plug-in vehicles once hybrids are included (mid-2026).
- Around 1 in 4 new cars sold in the UK in 2026 is fully electric, or closer to 4 in 10 once plug-in hybrids are counted.
- The UK passed 121,000 public charge points in mid-2026, spread across roughly 46,700 locations, around 10% more than a year earlier.
- Sales of new pure petrol and diesel cars end in 2030, and every new car must be zero-emission from 2035.
How fast do your chargers charge?
We usually fit one of two chargers:
The big one (22kW). You will need three-phase electricity for these, but in an hour they add about 90 miles of range. Ideal for restaurants, countryside pubs, theatres or anywhere customers stay for around an hour.
The little one (7kW). Most businesses can take these, and in an hour they add about 30 miles of range. Ideal if your customers are usually with you for two hours or more.
How many parking spaces will I need to allocate?
We usually install dual chargers: a single unit with two sockets, fitted so that two parking spaces can reach it.
We normally start by asking you to make two parking bays accessible. If the chargers get busy, we will recommend fitting more.
How much does it cost to host an EV Plus charger?
We provide the charging units free of charge and fund the installation, so hosting a charger is low-risk for you. On some sites we agree a revenue-share partnership, which we set out clearly before any work starts.
