How hosting an EV charger works: the full guide
Every stage of hosting an EV Plus charger, from first enquiry to years of operation. We fund, install and run the chargers. Drivers pay us, we reimburse your electricity, and we share the revenue with you.
1 You get in touch
Apply online, call 0203 745 8696 or email info@evplus.co.uk. It's free and there's no commitment. Tell us your site address, type of business, roughly how many parking spaces you have, how long customers stay, and whether you own or lease the site. Not sure you're a fit? See Is my site suitable?
2 Site assessment
A free visit where we check where the chargers should go, your electricity supply and spare capacity, the cable route from supply to bays, and how long visitors stay. We then recommend a charger, usually as a dual unit serving two bays, wall or pole mounted:

3 Proposal and agreement
We propose the number, type and position of chargers, and the commercial terms. We always fund the chargers and installation and reimburse your electricity. You also get a share of the charging revenue, and its size depends on how much the installation costs. See Costs and revenue. Everything is agreed in writing before work starts. If you lease, you'll need your landlord's permission at this stage.
4 Installation
We supply all equipment and carry out the electrical work and groundworks, to BS 7671 and the EV charging codes of practice. EV Plus carries £5 million public liability insurance. We agree dates with you and work around your opening hours where we can. If your supply needs upgrading, we arrange it with the network operator.
5 Going live
We commission the chargers, connect them to our monitoring system, and list your site on the apps drivers use, including Zapmap, Google Maps and Apple Maps. We also promote the new charger online.
6 Drivers charge and pay
Drivers pay EV Plus by contactless or mobile app, at prices we set. You and your staff aren't involved, and we support drivers 24/7. Our chargers meet the Public Charge Point Regulations 2023.
7 Payments and maintenance
The chargers meter their electricity use, so we reimburse you exactly, plus your revenue share, on the schedule in your agreement. We monitor the chargers around the clock and cover all servicing and repairs. If they get busy, we can add more.
